What we build

Custom Balloon Arches for New York Celebrations

New York rooms are rarely blank canvases. A well-sized arch turns a doorway, a cake table or a corner of a loft into the spot every guest photographs.

Think of a balloon arch as a frame for the moment that matters: the birthday cake, the couple, the graduate, the brand's front door. It's a curve of balloons on a metal frame or anchored at each end, and it changes a room more per dollar than flowers or fabric. It also reads well in a phone photo, which is where most of your party will live afterward.

We design every arch for the space you really have, not a showroom. In New York that often means measuring between a radiator and a bookshelf, or checking whether a 7 ft frame clears a prewar doorway. We choose the balloon mix to fit: 5-inch fillers for texture, 11-inch for body, 18- and 24-inch balloons for scale, plus chrome, pearl or foil touches. Then we haul everything up, build it in place and come back to strike it.

Our arches go up for first birthdays, baby showers and gender reveals, bridal showers and weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, sweet 16s, graduations, quinceañeras, office parties, product launches and store openings. Any celebration with an entrance, a table or a photo moment can carry one.

Arch styles

Balloon Arch Styles We Build

Shape sets the mood before color does. These are the arch styles we build, and where each one shines.

Organic balloon arches

Organic arches skip the repeating pattern. Balloons of several sizes are grouped in loose, uneven clusters, so the arch looks full and a little untamed, like the ones that fill your saved posts. They take florals and greenery easily and suit showers, weddings and milestone birthdays. Because they pack more balloons into each foot, they price a bit higher than classic arches.

Classic and spiral balloon arches

Classic arches use matching four-balloon clusters packed tight along the frame. Rotate the colors cluster by cluster and the arch turns into a spiral that wraps two, three or four colors around itself. The look is crisp and graphic, which is why school events, team watch parties and corporate events still ask for it.

Round, circle and hoop arches

A circle arch puts balloons around some or all of a round frame. A fully wrapped ring frames a person; a crescent of balloons on one side leaves room for a name, a neon sign or a view of the venue. Round arches are a natural fit for sweet 16s, proposals and photo spots in small rooms, since they need less width than a full arch.

Square and backdrop arches

Square arches trace a rectangular frame, usually around a panel, shimmer wall or flower wall, so the cake table gets a defined stage. If you want the frame, surface and balloons designed together, our balloon backdrops page covers the options.

Half and asymmetrical arches

A half arch, sometimes called a swoop or demi arch, rises up one side of a table or doorway and stops partway across. It's the designer look of the moment and it uses fewer balloons, which makes it a smart pick for apartments and tighter budgets.

Double arches

Two arches layered front and back, or one nested inside the other, add depth that a single arch can't. They earn their place in high-ceilinged lofts, ballrooms and wedding ceremonies where one arch would look small.

Mini and tabletop arches

Tabletop arches run about 4 to 6 feet and sit right on or behind a cake, gift or sweetheart table. In New York they're the workhorse: they fit studio apartments, restaurant private dining rooms and office pantries, and they ride up a passenger elevator already built.

Entrance and doorway arches

An entrance arch tells guests they've found the right door. We build them over brownstone stoops, apartment doors, lobby entrances, restaurant fronts and shop doors. Arches on the sidewalk side are weighted and kept clear of the walking path, since a crowded block and a gusty avenue both test a frame. Add a pair of balloon columns for a fuller entrance.

Large and giant balloon arches

From 16 feet up, an arch can span double doors, a stage or a loft's long wall. Giant arches of 25 to 40 feet for store launches, school fairs and street-facing activations use 24- and 36-inch balloons and get planned like a custom balloon installation, including how the pieces fit through the service entrance.

Balloon arches with flowers and greenery

Tucking silk or fresh blooms, eucalyptus, pampas or trailing greenery into the clusters softens an arch into something closer to floral design. Brides, christening hosts and Mother's Day brunch planners ask for this version the most.

Sizing

Balloon Arch Sizes: How Big Should Your Arch Be?

Measure before you fall in love with a photo. In New York, the doorway, the ceiling and the elevator all get a vote.

Common balloon arch sizes and where they fit
Arch sizeFitsBalloons (approx.)
4–6 ft tabletop or mini archCake, gift and sweetheart tables; studio apartments60–110 organic
6.5–7 ft frame archPhoto corners, single doorways, small backdrops90–130 organic
10–12 ft archApartment doors, stoops, 8 ft backdrops150–220 organic or 60–75 classic
16–20 ft archLoft walls, double doors, stages240–360 organic or 100–130 classic
25 ft and upStore launches, gyms, ballroom entrancesPlanned for the site

Length is measured along the curve, so a 16–20 ft arch stands roughly 8–9 ft tall and 8–10 ft wide. Check ceiling height in older apartments, and tell us if the only way in is a stairwell: large arches are built in sections and joined in the room.

How many balloons does an arch take? Plan on about 5 or 6 balloons per foot for a classic arch of 11-inch balloons, and 12 to 18 per foot for an organic arch that mixes 5-, 11- and 18-inch sizes. That works out to roughly 70–110 balloons for a 6 ft organic arch and 240–360 for a 20 ft one. A pack of 50 covers a tabletop or half arch, not a full doorway.

Pricing

How Much Does a Balloon Arch Cost in New York?

Most full-size arches we build in NYC land between $275 and $700. Here's where each one starts and what pushes it up.

Balloon arch pricing

Tabletop or mini arch (4–6 ft)$225
Frame arch with garland (6.5–7 ft)$275
Doorway arch (10–12 ft)$375

Delivery, setup and pickup are included across the five boroughs. Hoboken, Jersey City and Nassau County add a travel fee starting at $60.

What moves a balloon arch quote:

  • Length and density. Every extra foot, and every fuller cluster, adds balloons and build time.
  • Style. An organic design packs in more balloons per foot than a classic or spiral one.
  • Balloon types. Chrome, pearl, double-stuffed custom shades and 18–36 inch balloons cost more than standard latex.
  • Extras. Florals, greenery, foil shapes, vinyl names, neon signs, marquee letters and backdrop panels.
  • Building logistics. A walk-up above the third floor, a freight elevator booked for a narrow slot, or a service entrance around the block all add carry time.
  • Timing. Early-morning builds, overnight venue load-ins and same-night strikes cost more than a midday setup.
  • Keep it or strike it. Pickup is included, but you can skip it and keep the balloons.

For an exact number, send the date, the address or venue, the size and your colors, and we'll reply with a written quote. Each service page lists its own starting prices too: garlands, columns and backdrops.

Your options

Balloon Arch Rental, Full Installation or a DIY Kit?

There's more than one way to get an arch into your party. Here's how they compare in a New York apartment or venue.

Comparing your balloon arch options
OptionWhat's includedChoose it when
Full installationDesign, delivery, on-site build and strikeThe arch is the centerpiece and you'd rather not spend party morning on a step stool
Balloon arch rentalA finished frame arch dropped off, then collectedSmaller arches and simple photo spots
Grab-and-go garlandA built garland you collect and hangShort runs for a table or wall, tighter budgets
DIY balloon arch kitLoose balloons, a tape strip and glue dotsSmall arches, spare time and a patient friend with a pump

Is a balloon arch easy to make? A small kit arch is a fair weekend project. A full organic arch is another story: a pro crew finishes in one to three hours, while first-timers often need half a day and a second run to the store. In an apartment, add the challenge of inflating a few hundred balloons without a garage, and of storing them overnight without crushing half of them. When the arch carries the whole look, having it built usually pays for itself.

New York weather

Outdoor Balloon Arches in New York Cold, Heat and Wind

Arches can go on a rooftop, a stoop or a backyard in every season here. Each season just needs its own plan.

New York gives balloons four different problems. In January, daytime highs hover near 40°F and nights drop below freezing; cold air shrinks latex so an arch looks deflated, and frozen latex turns brittle. In July and August, highs in the mid-80s, humidity and full sun on a rooftop make balloons swell, fade and pop within hours. All year, wind funnels down the avenues and across rooftops and waterfront terraces far harder than it does at street level.

  • Winter builds stay short outside. A stoop or storefront arch in December goes up close to start time, and we inflate a touch under size because balloons swell when they come back into a heated room.
  • Summer rooftops need shade. Put the arch under a pergola, an awning or the shady side of the bulkhead, and avoid black and navy in direct sun.
  • Air-filled, always, outside. Helium balloons sink in the cold and drift in wind; air-filled arches on a frame hold their shape.
  • Weight everything. Rooftop and waterfront arches get heavy bases and tie-offs to railings where the building allows it.
  • Respect the sidewalk. Street-side arches stay clear of the walking path and fire hydrants, and come down when the party ends.
  • Keep a rain and snow plan. Light rain is fine for latex. Thunderstorms, snow squalls or a gusty nor'easter mean moving the arch inside.

Longevity

How Long Does a Balloon Arch Last?

An air-filled arch indoors lasts for days. Outside, it depends on the season and the sun.

How long balloon arches typically last
SettingExpect
Air-filled, indoors, away from radiators and ventsSeveral days, often a week or more
Air-filled, outdoors in shade in spring or fallA full day, often into the next
Air-filled, summer rooftop in full sunA few hours before fading and popping
Air-filled, outdoors below freezingA few hours; latex shrinks and gets brittle
Helium arch or helium bouquetsHours, unless treated to float longer

Will a balloon arch last 4 days? Indoors and air-filled, it should. That's why a night-before build works for a Saturday morning shower, and why arches for weekend-long events live inside. Can you set up a balloon arch the night before? Indoors, yes. Steam heat is the one thing to watch in older buildings, so we keep arches a few feet from radiators. Outdoor arches go up the day of the event.

How it works

How to Book a Balloon Arch in New York

Four steps and no pressure. A quote is free and doesn't lock you in.

  1. 1

    Send the details

The date, the address or venue, the space or arch size, your colors and any inspiration photos. Mention stairs, elevators or building rules if you know them.

  2. 2

Get a design and a written price

We reply with a plan and a quote. Adjustments are free until it's right.

  3. 3

    We carry in and build

We arrive in your setup window, bring everything up, build the arch in place and check that it's steady and camera-ready.

  4. 4

    Party, then we strike

Enjoy the event. If pickup is part of the plan, we come back for the frame and the balloons.

How far in advance should I book a balloon arch? Two to four weeks covers most parties. Go earlier for June graduations, December holiday weekends, New Year's Eve and wedding-season Saturdays. If your building needs a certificate of insurance (COI) or a freight elevator booking, ask management the same week you book us, since many offices are closed on weekends and want two or three business days. Last-minute dates are still worth a message.

Questions

Balloon Arches in New York: FAQ

How much is a balloon arch?

Our balloon arches start at $225 for a tabletop arch, $275 for a 6.5–7 ft frame arch and $550 for a full 16–20 ft arch, with delivery, setup and pickup included in the five boroughs. Size, style, balloon count, extras and building access set the final price.

How long do balloon arches last?

Indoors and air-filled, several days and often more than a week. Outdoors in shade, about a day. On a sunny summer rooftop or outside below freezing, plan for a few hours. Helium arches last hours unless treated.

How many balloons do you need for a balloon arch?

About 12–18 per foot for an organic arch and 5–6 per foot for a classic one. A 6 ft organic arch needs roughly 70–110 balloons, and a 20 ft organic arch about 240–360.

How far in advance should I make a balloon arch?

If you're building it yourself, inflate and assemble indoors no more than a day or two ahead, and keep it away from radiators and sunny windows. If we're building it, book two to four weeks out, and earlier for June and December.

What's the difference between a balloon arch and a balloon garland?

The garland is the flexible strand of balloon clusters. An arch is that strand (or a run of classic clusters) mounted on a frame so it stands and curves on its own. Garlands can also drape over mantels, doorways and tables without any frame.

Do balloon arches use helium?

Almost never. Arches are air-filled and supported by a frame, so they last longer and cost less. Helium is for floating arches, ceilings and bouquets, which last hours to about a day.

Can you build a balloon arch in a walk-up apartment?

Yes. We carry the frame and balloon sections up the stairs and finish the arch inside your apartment. Tell us the floor when you ask for a quote, since stair carries above the third floor add time.

Does my building need a certificate of insurance for balloon decor?

Many Manhattan co-ops, condos and doorman buildings ask vendors for a COI and a freight elevator booking before setup. Ask your management office for its exact requirements early, because offices are often closed on weekends.

Can you put a balloon arch outside in New York in winter?

Yes, for a few hours. Cold air shrinks latex and freezing temperatures make it brittle, so outdoor winter arches are air-filled, built close to start time and kept out of the wind.

Can you set up a balloon arch the night before?

Indoors, yes. An air-filled arch built the evening before looks the same the next morning, as long as it isn't next to a radiator or heating vent. Outdoor arches go up the day of.

Are balloon arches still in style?

Yes. Organic and half arches, arches paired with backdrops, and arches with florals are the current look. Dense spiral arches are the older style but still the best way to show school or team colors.

What if a guest has a latex allergy?

Ask for a latex-free design. Arches, walls and backdrops can be built from foil balloons, and many hospitals, schools and offices require foil only.

Tell us the date. We'll build the balloon arches.

Send your date, venue and colors and get a written quote with a design plan. Free, and no obligation.
